The Phenomenon of Gossip Girl – Then and Now
Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite... And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, GG” In honour of the New Gossip girl reboot on HBO Max and Crave (if you’re Canadian like me), I wanted to bring awareness to the cultural reset that was and is Gossip Girl. In this blog I will not be sharing the fashion in Gossip Girl due to the fact I will soon be doing a whole separate blog dedicated to that. I am currently writing this blog while listening to the GG soundtrack to get some inspo about the 2007 major hit that is/was “Gossip Girl.”

2000s Fashion, Beauty and Music, with Miss2005

(Part 2 of 2) A few weeks ago I sat down to talk about all things 2000s pop culture and entertainment with Nicole Randone, aka miss2005. That is her forte! In today’s blog I will be continuing that interview and we talk about all things 2000s fashion, music and beauty! Make sure to read part 1 before you read this one! You can read that HERE!

Enjoy!

Sadie: Who are your 2000s fashion icons?

Nicole: Paris Hilton is number 1 forever. On the fictional side of things I love Lizzie Mgire and Sharpay Evans.

Sadie: Sharpay is a queen! I have always looked up to her style. What 2000s fashion trends do you incorporate in your everyday life?

Nicole: I wear a lot of Juicy tracksuits. I wear my Playboy bunny necklace every single day of my life. I also love Toggle necklaces.

Sadie: What TV show in that time period do you think has the best fashion and style taste?

Nicole: So many I am obsessed with! As much as I would love to say One Tree Hill because it is my favorite show ever, I have to say Lizzie McGuire. Lots of body glitter, lots of out-there  choices! One Tree Hill was a very small town in North Carolina but Lizzie was very “We are in Malibu, baby! Put on the body glitter, let’s go!”

Sadie: I have a Lizzie McGuire DVD that I got when I was younger that has all the fashion episodes.

Nicole: You get it! You understand!

Sadie: Whose closet do you wish you had: Summer Roberts from the OC, Brooke Davis from One Tree Hill, Holly Ttyler from What I Like About You, or Marisa Cooper from the OC?

Nicole: My favorite girl out of all of them would have to be Brooke, but…Summer Roberts!!!

Sadie: 1000% the same choice. Her outfits are great.

Beauty

Sadie: What would your makeup routine be if you lived in the 2000s?

Nicole: Heavy Lip gloss, body glitter, icy frosted white eyeshadow, orange fake tan. Paris Hilton. I need to live that dream out!

Sadie: What beauty trends do you wish was never a thing?

Nicole: The dark lip liner around the lips – I’m not a huge fan.

Sadie: It’s the overly plucked thin eyebrows for me, LOL. That is a trend I do not like. I couldn’t do that.

Music

Sadie: I have been really into bands and pop rock vibes recently. What are your fave bands?

Nicole: Jack’s Mannequin, because I’m a One Tree Hill stan. Fall Out Boy, Weezer, and All American Rejects.

Sadie: Do you wish the genre of music that was popular then was still popular now?

Nicole: Yes and No. If it was mainstream, people might ruin it a little bit, ‘cause everyone talks down to the songs that play on the radio. I would love a pop punk resurgence, just because I’m not really into whatever is going on. I think 2000s music is superior!

Sadie: Music impacted 2000s television. What show had the best soundtrack?

Nicole: One Tree Hill, because it had that aspect of the show where they had live music too. I discovered so much music from that show, like Jack’s Mannequin.

Sadie: I love how the episodes are titled after a song that fits that episode!

Nicole: I feel like it’s something that television is lacking now. They used music for its storytelling. The lyrics in One Tree Hill corresponded to the scene. Now if you watch a more modern show it’s more of an instrumental, as opposed to a score – more modern and you are losing that storytelling aspect which was so powerful.

There it is! The full, completed interview with social media mogul Nicole Randone – miss2005. I had so much fun and can’t wait to see how her social media and author career take off!  Let us know who your 2000s icons are and a trend you love!

Be sure to follow Nicole on her social media. Watch her YouTube videos at the channel “Nicole Randone,” follow her Instagram and tiktok @miss2005, and be sure to buy her book when it comes out.

Sincerely,

Sadie
