Happy October! The change of season brings exciting new things – school, new fall TV, and transitioning into wearing fall and winter outfits! I have been trying new things, wearing new beauty products and changing up my routines. I thought for this blog post I will share with you some of my new favorite products, new routines, book recommendations, podcasts, new influencers I have been loving, music I have been obsessed with, and some new fashion and beauty trends!
I first wanted to share some wellness changes I have been trying to implement. First: I have been trying to not be so hard on myself and have more of an “it-is-what-it-is” mindset. I was watching a new Sabrina Carpenter music video and she had a sign that said: “this too shall pass.” Such a great reminder. I have also been trying to drink smoothies in the morning. Which brings me to the first influencer I wanted to talk about. @ bewellwithkayla is a wellness instagram page that has been inspiring me a lot with her productivity, clothing range (bewellwear) and her healthy lifestyle. She also created “The Morning Blend,” a smoothie that you have every morning first thing before eating anything else. Having a smoothie or juice in the morning promotes better digestion, better skin (which I’m trying to improve), and overall better health. The smoothie that is my staple is spinach, banana, blueberry, coconut milk, chia seeds and if I’m feeling it, some vanilla protein powder. Kayla’s Instagram is so put together and I feel like she gets a lot done and is very productive. Give her a follow!
I wanted to share about how my morning routine has changed. School has started for me and that requires waking up early. I don’t have as much time to do my morning journals like I was doing in the summer. But I still try to journal the best I can. I try to journal before bed or if I’m feeling a little heavy. In the morning, I wake up and allow myself 10 minutes to hit snooze or just lay in bed and get mentally prepared. I then grab my iPad and turn on a podcast, without checking my social media.
Podcasts
I have been on a podcast kick. I love listening to podcasts about anything from beauty, fashion, and business to wellness. I will give you some recommendations.
ILYSM podcast with Kenzie Elizabeth – this is my favorite right now because I love how diverse the episodes are and the wide range of guests. I love listening to the episodes when she has entrepreneurs on!
Life with Marianna with Marianna Hewitt- Marianna is an entrepreneur and influencer who is the co-founder of the skincare brand Summer Fridays. She brings entrepreneurs on to talk about how they got their start, how to grow, and give some tips! Such a good podcast.
On Purpose with Jay Shetty– I just started listening to this podcast and it has been so enlightening to hear about ways I can better myself with some mindfulness tips! He brings out celebs to talk with and it’s a very positive podcast to listen to.
Beauty Products
Now let’s move on to my fave beauty products.
I have always been a fan of Selena Gomez. With her new-ish cosmetics brand RARE Beauty I have become MORE of a fan. Rare Beauty is an amazing makeup company. I especially love the message and ethics behind the brand. The products that I have been loving are the liquid highlighters (Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight) and the new Mascara (Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara). Amazing. No fall out and it stays all day. My fave product though is the cream lipsticks. The formula is amazing and the colours as well. (Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick.)
Also wanted to mention the Kylie Cosmetics brown eyeliner. This makes my eyes pop and I’m obsessed. And the last product I wanted to share is the Kylie Lip Kit in Snow Way Bae. Perfect colour for fall. It’s a mix between a dark pink and a light purple. Glides on so well. Great formula.
Not really a specific beauty product, but I have been loving the pink makeup hair clips beauty gurus wear. Do you know what I mean? The pink clips that hold back the strains of hair to get it out of the way to prep for makeup. I have seen all kinds of celebs wearing them in the Vogue beauty secret videos. If you don’t watch the Vogue YouTube channel you need to ASAP.
Fashion, Music and Books
Lastly, I wanted to talk about fashion trends, as well as music and book recommendations.
Let’s start with fashion. Cream and black in the fall time is so beautiful – definitely will be buying some staple neutral pieces this season. I went shopping at Zara and found more colourful pieces in the Fall collection than I saw in the summer one. I went to Aritzia and invested in some good quality pieces for once. I bought a really soft midi skirt, and a soft sweater. Just recently I picked up a bubble gum pink soft two-piece set for lounging and a gray body suit. Perfect for this new season.
I have been listening to so much music. Mostly Kacey Musgraves. Idk but I just feel calm with her music. All her albums are great and it’s just pure singing. No fancy runs or anything. Soft music. Perfect for Fall. My favourite songs are Merry Go Round, Starcrossed, and Justified. All her songs!!
I have started so many good TV shows recently. A few weeks ago I posted about TV shows to watch if you love fashion (you can read that HERE if you haven’t yet!). I started watching Jane
by Design which was listed in that blog. Since then I have also started watching Ugly Betty, which is about a fashion magazine company. It is so amazing. I am obsessed. I have also been watching Cobra Kai and The Office (US). These last two TV shows are kinda off-brand for TTB but I love them anyway. Both are so funny. I highly recommend The Office if you want a laugh.
To finish, let’s talk about books. The first and only book I will be sharing with you today is Blowing My Way to the Top by Jen Atkin. This book is about how she started her hair styling business and talks about all things business. Feeling really inspired by this book.
I hope you enjoyed this quick blog post! Tell me if you would like to see more of these! Leave a comment with what have been some of your faves recently.
Sincerely,
Sadie
