Today I have a very special blog post for you. I have asked 3 stylists to give their autumn and winter 2021 style tips.
And I couldn’t help but share some tips of my own too. <3
Thanks to everyone who shared their tips for this post. They all gave such great ideas – I learned so much and I hope you do too! Make sure to follow them all on their social media.
From Lola Horlix @styledbylolaxox
“Hi I’m Lola and @Styledbylolaxox is my online styling account (on Instagram). I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember so I decided to use my passion to create something, and that is how styledbylolaxox was born. I would describe my style as very feminine and chic with a colour palette of pinks, nudes, blacks and occasional blues. I also frequently use brands such as Chanel and Miu Miu. At the moment I am not currently offering any personal styling to my followers however if they would be interested in that I would gladly look into doing it in the future. I hope you all enjoy my account.”
1. Knee high boots are a must for a/w especially if you want to wear skirts. They help you stay warm and overall just make you look more stylish!
2. Tweed sets never go out of style and always look classy!
3. Patterned tights are an amazing way to spice up your outfits. Gucci sells lovely ones, or for cheaper alternatives look at places like Princess Polly.
4. Stick to a neutral colour palette. A palette of classic colours like nudes, blacks and whites always makes you look put together and more autumn!
5. Trench coats are the perfect chic coat for the colder months and are timeless! They can be seen on people like Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffanys. You can purchase these from high end stores such as Burberry or high street brands such as Zara.
From Lucy May @thefashiondiary (TikTok) @lucymayashburner (Instagram)
“I created my TikTok account in order to simply share my love of fashion and style.
I would describe my aesthetic as one huge, jumbled mess of Parisian, 1950s/1960s Hollywood glamour, preppy, minimalistic, 90s model off duty, feminine, with a lot of Blair Waldorf and a splash of Elle Woods for good measure! I promptly realised I didn’t have the funds to keep a fresh wardrobe to produce enough engaging content, so although I occasionally post outfit videos of myself, I turned to virtual styling to allow myself to spread my ideas and ‘high fashion’ inspired outfits without breaking the bank! This, of course, is in addition to the wide range of videos I also upload…you’ll have to follow to find out more! 😉”
1.Turtlenecks in every colour – they look so much more chic than a regular top, and are incredibly versatile.
2. Trench coats are your best friend – the epitome of fall style and add a classy, Parisian touch to every outfit!
3. Sheer tights – get some thick tights matching your skin tone, and wear a pair of sheer black tights (bonus points if they’re patterned!) on top of them-you get the clean look without the cold legs.
4. Straight leg, slim jeans are essential – they have such a 90s model off duty vibe, are perfect for fall/winter weather and super versatile! Pair with a knit sweater or turtleneck, ankle boots or loafers, a trench coat and you have a chic, timeless outfit!
5. It’s all in the accessories – berets, leather gloves, patterned tights, cute scarves, etc. not only keep you warm but add the finishing touches to all outfits.
6. Tweed is a necessity – not only practical for the weather, but super preppy and elegant. Blair Waldorf vibes are perfect for fall!
From Maria Ayers @ayersstyling
Maria has a great styling account on Instagram @ayersstyling. I did a collaboration with her on the fashion of Gossip Girl so click HERE to read if you haven’t yet! I talk more over there about who she is and what her styling packages are.
Maria’s fashion tips:
1.Just because it’s colder out, doesn’t mean you need to dress like a big potato. You can layer in style to stay warm but still keep it chic.
2. Tights will keep you warmer and allow you to still wear dresses and skirts.
3. A black turtleneck is a fall/winter must have.
4. Have many different boots/coats in neutral colors so that you can easily come up with outfits and still be warm.
5. A beret will keep your ears warm and your outfit stylish.
My Tips
I love all of these tips from Lola, Lucy and Maria – AND I got so inspired, I wanted to share my own tips as well:
1. I am loving faux leather. Faux leather has been in style for a couple of years now and I have definitely fallen into that trend. I love my faux leather leggings from Garage. So comfy and a perfect basic piece that can elevate a basic top.
2. Knit sweaters are my GO-TO look for the fall and winter. I live in a cold area and I need to be warm, so a cream, black or grey pullover sweater is the way to go
3. A big tote bag. I bought this grey and taupe one from Winners and I love it. I think bags elevate an outfit and, especially when it’s winter, your coat can sometimes drag down an outfit if you need to actually stay warm. Unfortunately, if it’s -20 outside you’ll probably need more than a trench or wool coat unless you’re just going from the car to indoors. I still wear a cute faux fur parka jacket but that look can be very repetitive, so I would suggest carrying a nice bag with your everyday essentials.
4. Accessories. As I mentioned, I love bags but I also think jewelry, gloves, hats and scarves help in the cooler months. I always wear my little gold hoops but some nice chunky gold hoops give a very chic look. Gloves keep your hands warm and look really nice as well.
5. Wear a pop of colour once in a while. I talked about adding colour in one of my first blog posts (you can read that HERE), but I think in the winter it can add some fun to your look. Whether that’s a nice lipstick colour like red or pink, a bag or a bracelet, I always like to keep it fun.
I really hope you found these tips helpful. Make sure to check all the stylists’ pages out and if you learned anything, maybe share and tag trusttalkbeauty on your story! Do you have any more fashion tips? Leave them in the comments!
Sincerely,
Sadie
