The Phenomenon of Gossip Girl – Then and Now
Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite... And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, GG” In honour of the New Gossip girl reboot on HBO Max and Crave (if you’re Canadian like me), I wanted to bring awareness to the cultural reset that was and is Gossip Girl. In this blog I will not be sharing the fashion in Gossip Girl due to the fact I will soon be doing a whole separate blog dedicated to that. I am currently writing this blog while listening to the GG soundtrack to get some inspo about the 2007 major hit that is/was “Gossip Girl.”

Recent Beauty Finds + Makeup Haul

I have always enjoyed makeup products. Recently, I have been finding amazing new products that have sparked my interest even more. These products range from drugstore to “luxury”/ high end makeup. I have collected these products over the last few months and I think some of these picks are highly underrated.  Make sure to write these down for your next Sephora or makeup shopping trip!

I have been using the Sephora Collection eyebrow pencil. This product is only $11 and has great coverage. This eyebrow pencil has a very tiny spoolie brush and makes it easy to brush up your eyebrows. To fill them in I use the other end of the pencil. I find this product to be one of the best if you like the really natural eyebrow look.

I always try to find makeup that is “clean” and free of unwanted chemicals. I mostly stick to this rule when it comes to everyday lip products. When I am going out, I tend to use whatever product I want but for everyday wear I like to try and find clean products. Tarte has been a great brand when it comes to clean alternatives. I have found 2 lip products that I love – The Tarte Sea Lip Quench Rescue lip balms and the Tarte Sea H20 Lip Gloss.  The lip balms come in many great colours. They almost act as a hydrating gloss stick. I like to use these because they have a great colour pigment and a great shine. If you are looking for a gloss that has shine and LOTS of colour pay-off, I would recommend trying out the Tarte Sea H20 Gloss. I sometimes find these a bit drying if it’s really cold outside, so I like to put the lip balm underneath and put the gloss on top. I’m currently using the colours Coral, Salt Lyfe, and Nude in the lip balms and the colours Retreat and Salt Lyfe for the lip glosses.

I always rave about Rare Beauty because I like the marketing behind the brand and the message but also the products themselves. I find this brand to have such good quality. The Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer is the only concealer that I have tried that does not have bad repercussions for my skin or break me out. I have struggled with finding a product that I can wear confidently. I like to use their concealer and blend it in with the corresponding Rare Beauty concealer brush.

Back to the Sephora Collection, I have talked about this in the past but it’s worth repeating. I have been using their Eye Primer for a while now. Sephora Collection really is a brand that you need to try because they have good quality makeup for a low price and you can tell that the passion really is in the brand. I like to use this eye primer before I apply eyeshadow and I feel like it gives a really good base.

For the past five years, I was using the same Tweezerman eyelash curler I bought at Walmart. I really needed a new one. So for Christmas, I asked for one that was high quality. I received the Chanel Eyelash Curler and it has changed the way mascara looks on me. I love how it elongates the look of the eye lashes and also holds the curl all day.

To go along with the Chanel eyelash curler, I have been using Loreal Telescopic Mascara. I forgot how good this product was. Probably one of the best drugstore mascaras on the market. I love using this as a base mascara and then using the Rare Beauty Mascara on top for a more volumized look.

I thought I would give a quick honorable mention to the Too Faced Christmas in the City eyeshadow palette. I got this palette for christmas and have been using it ever since. I feel like because of Euphoria and the makeup trends surrounding the show, it kind of gives us permission to test out different fun makeup looks. From this palette, I like using a purple shadow on my lid, blended in with a dark brown. A very subtle pop of colour has been sparking joy for me.

If you have any ideas for your next beauty haul, let me know in the comments. I thought it would be fun to share some beauty products that are not necessarily talked about all the time. What have you been enjoying lately? Let me know in the comments <3

Sincerely,

Sadie
