The Phenomenon of Gossip Girl – Then and Now
Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite... And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, GG” In honour of the New Gossip girl reboot on HBO Max and Crave (if you’re Canadian like me), I wanted to bring awareness to the cultural reset that was and is Gossip Girl. In this blog I will not be sharing the fashion in Gossip Girl due to the fact I will soon be doing a whole separate blog dedicated to that. I am currently writing this blog while listening to the GG soundtrack to get some inspo about the 2007 major hit that is/was “Gossip Girl.”

Spring Sessions With Sara Maria At The Burdock Music Hall

“Every girl needs a band, but if you’re a really good girl, you’ll get a girl band.” Period.

Spring Sessions with Sara Maria, Natali Rachel, and Christian Currie was an unforgettable night at Burdock Music Hall in downtown Toronto. Each artist commanded the stage with setlists that were carefully selected and engaging from start to finish.

The show started with Natali Rachel, who took the stage performing originals, both released and unreleased. She teased new music and performed covers that the audience loved. Her R&B-pop style translated beautifully into an acoustic set, highlighting both her vocals and songwriting throughout the performance.

Next up was headliner Sara Maria, starting off with a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” which was the perfect song to get the crowd moving and singing along. Sara was amazing at talking to and engaging with the audience, which is such an important part of a live show. Sara’s accompanying band, “Girl Band,” rocked the stage on drums, guitar, and bass. Together, they performed a combination of demos, released songs, and covers. The crowd was locked in throughout the entire set.

Cover songs included “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars, which she performed with Natali Rachel, “We Can’t Be Friends” by Ariana Grande, and “Lay All Your Love On Me” by ABBA. Towards the end of the set, Sara performed an unreleased song, “Over,” which showcased her songwriting talent. Ending the show, Sara and her band of talented women, Nadia, Juliet, and Alice, closed with Sara’s debut single, “Fallin’”.

Undefined by one genre, Christian Currie then took the stage, performing a wide range of originals and covers. Like all of the artists performing at Spring Sessions, Christian was great at communicating with the crowd, sharing stories and inspiration before each song. From his song “Be Alright” to a cover of Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat,” the audience loved every moment of the performance.

Spring Sessions with Sara Maria, Natali Rachel, and Christian Currie was such a fun night of incredible music. Make sure to stream their songs and keep up with them for new music coming soon. Thank you to all of them for inviting me to the show, such talented artists <3

Sincerely, Sadie
