The Phenomenon of Gossip Girl – Then and Now
Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite... And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, GG” In honour of the New Gossip girl reboot on HBO Max and Crave (if you’re Canadian like me), I wanted to bring awareness to the cultural reset that was and is Gossip Girl. In this blog I will not be sharing the fashion in Gossip Girl due to the fact I will soon be doing a whole separate blog dedicated to that. I am currently writing this blog while listening to the GG soundtrack to get some inspo about the 2007 major hit that is/was “Gossip Girl.”

An Intro to 1970s Music

There is a certain energy that comes from the music of the 1970s.  Maybe it's because the artists of these years were trailblazers for future music or because the concepts, songwriting, or themes feel more unique than anything else.  While the songs discuss concepts like love and yearning, there is a difference in the heartache attached to them. Whether because of the simple production of real instruments or acoustics, I feel they have more of a hopeful undertone than today’s love songs.  This decade saw many different genres, including folk, rock, soul, and more, making this an exciting time in music. If you are not familiar with the music of the ‘70s and want an intro, I have compiled a list of 5 crucial...

The Unique Indie Rock Sound of The O.C.

I happened to stumble across a YouTube video earlier this week entitled “How The OC Saved Indie Rock.” That video and its title got me thinking about how unique and special the song selections in The O.C. were.  Many popular teen dramas of the early 2000s incorporated music to enhance the storylines and elicit emotions from the audience, but The O.C. made music a character on the show.  Music supervisor Alex Pastavas chose music for the show that reflected its creator, Josh Schwartz, and his music taste, bringing indie rock music to the mainstream. Both Adam Brody and his character, Seth Cohen, deeply loved Indie and Alternative rock. Brody suggested his favourite bands, such as Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes, be...

A Look Back on Much Music — The Canadian TRL

If you grew up in Canada, you are most likely aware of Much Music.  To me, the Canadian & Toronto music scene’s history is deeply connected to Much Music and its legacy.  It still exists today as a social media-only network, but it is not the same.  Bring back the Toronto block parties of the Much Music Video Awards, the Red Carpets, the interviews, and the meet-and-greets outside the Bell Media building in Downtown Toronto!  I am so nostalgic for Much Music because I never got to experience it in all its glory. I was just starting to enjoy the network when it sadly fizzled.  Growing up in Toronto, I envied all the teenagers lined up on a night after school outside the iconic Queen...

Post Malone F-1 Trillion Album Review

Post Malone’s newest country project, F-1 Trillion, is a genre switch from his previous work.  Paying homage to country stars of today with almost every track featuring a top artist in country music, this new path for Post Malone has already received a lot of buzz and commercial success.  Switching genres for this project with the features is a good way to guarantee country audiences will listen because of the featured artists' loyal fan bases.  Every single so far has done extremely well commercially, but the most notable is the second single, “I Had some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen. It has spent many weeks at the top of the charts and has millions of streams.  This album is a collaborative project with the top...

Stand-out Songs from New Music Friday

Week of 08/09 2024 Staying up past midnight on Thursday nights every week has become somewhat of a tradition at this point. In my Spotify wrapped for 2023, they proclaimed me to be a “hunter” with the description that I'm always searching for new music and new favorites. Real. I am always excited about new music and hearing what direction an artist is going to take with their new project. I think it's so exciting to follow an artist's path in gearing up for an album with the frequent drops of stand-alone singles, music videos, and interviews. In 2024, there have been many jam-packed New Music Fridays with singles from lots of top artists, and the week of August 9, 2024, is one of them....

Sadie Christine — A Music Blog

When I started my first blog in 2021, I was only 16 years old discovering my passion for writing and pop culture. I have always been fascinated with beauty and style but as the years progressed I also really dived into my life long love of Music. Trusttalkbeauty.com was my first online outlet where I mainly focused on beauty and fashion. This new chapter of  sadiechristine.com allows me to explore pop culture topics with more of a mature lens to fit where I’m at right now in my life as an almost 20-year-old. I’ll still be talking about topics I  very much enjoy like fashion, style and beauty but will be incorporating articles with more of a focus on music...

Summer Book Recommendations

The summer is the perfect time to really dive into a book. The weather is amazing, the sun is shining, and the views of sun rays projecting off the water are always a plus. Today I'm going to be sharing with you some light reads to incorporate into your summer TBR. I have categorized the reads into 3 categories; rom-coms, autobiographies, and general fiction. I'm always looking for book recommendations so let me know if you have any must-read books for the summer season <3  Rom-coms:  People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.  I loved the writing in this book. It was a really easy read with a feel-good aspect that was enjoyable to read during the summer. A light-hearted rom-com.  Beach...
