The Phenomenon of Gossip Girl – Then and Now
Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite... And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, GG” In honour of the New Gossip girl reboot on HBO Max and Crave (if you’re Canadian like me), I wanted to bring awareness to the cultural reset that was and is Gossip Girl. In this blog I will not be sharing the fashion in Gossip Girl due to the fact I will soon be doing a whole separate blog dedicated to that. I am currently writing this blog while listening to the GG soundtrack to get some inspo about the 2007 major hit that is/was “Gossip Girl.”

The Unique Indie Rock Sound of The O.C.

I happened to stumble across a YouTube video earlier this week entitled “How The OC Saved Indie Rock.” That video and its title got me thinking about how unique and special the song selections in The O.C. were.  Many popular teen dramas of the early 2000s incorporated music to enhance the storylines and elicit emotions from the audience, but The O.C. made music a character on the show.  Music supervisor Alex Pastavas chose music for the show that reflected its creator, Josh Schwartz, and his music taste, bringing indie rock music to the mainstream. Both Adam Brody and his character, Seth Cohen, deeply loved Indie and Alternative rock. Brody suggested his favourite bands, such as Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes, be...

20 Coming-Of-Age Movies You Need To See!

I often get asked by my friends to recommend movies. I love movies that make me think but also are feel-good rom-coms. I have made a list of my favorite movies that provide joy, hope and laughter. If you take anything from this list, I highly recommend watching Lady Bird, Almost Famous, and 13 Going on 30.  Amazon Prime has some amazing new romantic comedies like Something from Tiffanys and Almost Fate. I feel like good rom-coms are coming back!  Disney+ just released a high school rom-com called Prom Pact, which is so great.  Each of these movies has an amazing soundtrack, so after you watch the movies make sure to add the songs to your playlist.  Let me know if you watched...

My Favourite Albums of 2022

I have always been into music. But in 2022 specifically, I listened to so much music – a  whopping 20,000 minutes according to my yearly Spotify Wrapped! I leaned on music more than ever to provide comfort when I needed it or just when I wanted to dance.  At the time that I am writing this, the 65th Grammy Awards are this weekend, Feb 5th. Since I was young, the Grammy Awards have always been yearly staple viewing in my household. So I thought I would create my own list of albums that have shaped my year. Here’s my take on the most influential albums of the year and my pick for the ultimate “winners,” old and new. While thinking about all...

What I learned from my Fave Characters

I think it's well known by now that I love watching movies and TV shows. I feel like I have learned many things from the characters I admire. I find myself going back and re-watching different entertainment programs so I can find new insights and learning. For example: I have probably seen Clueless close to 20 times. The reason I keep going back to my all-time favorite movies is because I like to see the characters from different perspectives, explore the depth of the individual character and get to know them better.  Let’s get started…  Some of my favorite characters include Elle Woods (Legally Blonde), Betty Suarez (Ugly Betty), Cher Horowitz (Clueless), Summer Roberts (The OC), Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill), Serena...

3 Holiday Gift INSPO Guides

Christmas and the Holiday Season is fast approaching, and I have been seeing many gift guides floating around social media. I have put together 3 different gift guides to help you figure out what to give, or what to ask for yourself!  There’s one for a person who is very chic, one for someone who loves the Y2K and 2000s aesthetic, and one for the person who is Gossip Girl obsessed.  I’ve included pictures for reference and linked the products where possible (where to get these products will depend on where you live.)  If you don't celebrate the holidays you can keep these things in mind for your birthday, or whatever else you celebrate!  Chic Gift INSPO Guide Lauren Conrad Beauty Book (such...

How to Make an Inspo Vision Board

Mood board, inspo board, vision board, collage – whatever you want to call it, it’s one of my favourite things to do and make. I have been brought up in a creative household with my Mom always doing collages when I was younger. Now that I am older, I really love creating different collages for the new upcoming season , a new project or business venture, a future board, or just doing one for fun if I'm bored and need a “pick-me-up.” Whatever is going on, I like to create a simple Pinterest board or make a colourful board that I can hang up in my room.  Today I am going to show you some fun ways you can create a...
