Mood board, inspo board, vision board, collage – whatever you want to call it, it’s one of my favourite things to do and make. I have been brought up in a creative household with my Mom always doing collages when I was younger. Now that I am older, I really love creating different collages for the new upcoming season , a new project or business venture, a future board, or just doing one for fun if I’m bored and need a “pick-me-up.” Whatever is going on, I like to create a simple Pinterest board or make a colourful board that I can hang up in my room.
Today I am going to show you some fun ways you can create a mood board, both digitally and physically.
Put on your fave playlist and have fun
This first step is kinda self explanatory but I really feel like some of the fun that comes with making a collage is listening to your music in the background. I have a few playlists on my Spotify that I love to listen to while making my collages.
I either listen to a song, album or a podcast while making my boards.
Now let’s get into the actual making of your board!
How to make a digital board
Here’s what I do: I open my Google Drive and select “Google Drawings,” which takes me to a transparent blank page. I open up Pinterest on another tab and drag and drop the pictures that I want in my collage to the blank page. From there I arrange it the way I want and then take a screenshot and print it!
To find the images that you want, I suggest going into your own personal boards, or looking at other people’s boards to find images that match your personal aesthetic and the colour palette you find most appealing. For me, I tend to stick to pinks, golds, whites, and neutrals. (If you want me to write a post about how to develop or find a personal aesthetic, email me!)
Speaking of Pinterest, I also love making a Pinterest board directly on my phone so I can glance at it whenever. Sometimes if my Pinterest is looking really good, I take a screenshot and set it to be my wallpaper on my phone! Instant inspo!
How to make a physical mood board
I love magazines. I think that’s kinda obvious if you are a reader of TrustTalkBeauty. I love looking at pages and cutting out images and words that speak to me. I take a big poster board paper and cut out the images, set them up, arrange it how I like, and then glue it! Super easy. A great activity to do if you are bored. I used to make these all the time during the first lockdown!
Make sure to look on my tiktok @trusttalkbeauty to get a tutorial of how to make these mood boards and the finished product! I love putting quotes and images that keep me inspired and motivated. I have my collages on the wall directly in front of my bed so they’re the first thing I see when I wake up!
Send me a picture on Instagram, or post a story and tag me, if you make a collage using my tips!!

Sadie
